Rochester Guild Hall | Village Hall Wedding | Colour | Bunting and Cakes
“Clare is not only an amazing photographer, she is also the perfect addition to a wedding! When we first met Clare, we knew we had made the right decision; neither of us particularly like having our photos taken, but Clare made us feel completely at ease. Then on the day, Clare managed to take the most beautiful, natural pictures that I didn’t think would ever be possible. She really captured the mood of the whole day and was even brave enough to get in the middle of quite an energetic dance floor. We can’t thank you enough!” Flora and Mike x
The best couples
Equally, when I first met Flora and Mike I knew I really wanted to be their wedding photographer. They had such a lovely connection with each other but totally unassuming and like many of my couples, nervous about having their pictures taken. They weren’t concerned for big, epic portraits but wanted their day to show the love for their friends and family.
Village hall wedding
Mike and Flora planned a perfect Spring wedding. Think country village hall, colour, bunting, fate games, cakes and bubbles and a proper Scottish barn dance. After a very relaxing morning at Flora’s parents house I met up with Mike and his friends at a pub in Rochester high street. I loved snapping away whilst Mike and his crew casually made their way to the Rochester Guildhall.
The Guildhall is a beautiful Grade 1 listed building at the end of Rochester High Street (the best end). Open as a public museum it also holds civil ceremonies in its very grand main hall. Decorated in period paintings and grandeur; I love it because the light bellows in from large windows and bounces colour everywhere. Colour was definitely the theme of the day starting with Flora’s big Spring bouquet to the large balloons and lanterns at the village hall.
Whilst their guests made their way to Cobham Village Hall I kept Flora and Mike back for some intimate couple photos. Rochester is a perfect backdrop with its independent shops and cobbled streets. We used a nearby alleyway to start the shoot. The light was perfect and the brick walls added great texture.
Barn dance party
Back at the village hall their guests waited to cover them in the most amount of colourful confetti. You couldn’t get a better location for a village hall themed wedding. Their guests enjoyed glasses of Pimms whilst adults and children played ball games on the green. After a lavish tea party and heartfelt speeches, it was time to prepare for the evening entertainment – a full on Ceilidh. It was brilliant! Slightly risky being in the middle of the dance floor whilst people where being whisked and spun around but ‘oh my’ so much fun. Just add to this a gin bar, hog roast and lots of cheese! I say no more other than it was awesome 🙂
If you are having barn dance or just an epic party. Let me know because I love to party!

It has been known for me to shed a tear during the wedding ceremony but not at multiple points throughout the day! Mascara and cameras already don’t mix but add to those leaking eyes and you’ve got a problem. This wedding was an emotional roll coaster and it started...
let's get this conversation started
“I can't tell you how much we love the photos. They really are just ‘fantastic’. Looking through them genuinely did take us back through all the excitement and emotions of the day, which was always what we hoped for from wedding pictures! I don't know how you manage to capture so much feeling and sentiment but you did and we have had so much enjoyment looking through them and reliving it all. Thank you for doing such a wonderful job, we couldn't be happier with them! We were overwhelmed with the slideshow too, what a generous and wonderful thing of you to do! It brings shivers down my spine watching it and - we absolutely loved it with the music!! We will really treasure that forever ‘thank you’!”
