The Bingham Hotel Wedding Photography | Richmond Wedding | Helen and Will
Will and Helen had met me at their friends wedding the previous year and really liked my relaxed and natural style photography style. I absolutely love it when friends and family book me for their wedding day after seeing me in action. It means I know I’m doing something right and there is no better praise. Plus, I get to see my previous couple again and that’s always a bonus.
The wedding venue
Helen and Will choose the elegant, boutique Bingham Hotel in Richmond to celebrate their love. The hotel is a beautiful Georgian townhouse overlooking the Thames, nestled between Richmond Bridge and Petersham Meadows. The hotel has fifteen bedrooms, the river view room being the largest. With its freestanding copper bath and Queen size bed it’s perfect for groom and bridal prep. The hotel bar is decadent with high ceilings and large gilded mirrors and the gardens are a tranquil river spot just waiting for wedding guests to mingle. We were so lucky to have the most perfect sunny day for photographs and as soon as I saw the close proximity to the river I couldn’t wait to take them for their couple shoot.
Perfect Autumn Photography Light
September and October are definitely my favourite wedding months. The autumn colours are so rich and the late day sun emits the most amazing warm light, which is perfect for the golden hour photos. There are studies that suggest our personality traits represent one of the seasons. It is also fair to say that our creative styles can also do the same. If this is true my photography style is definitely autumn. Rich, warm and colourful with deep shadows and warm whites. Helen and Will’s October wedding day was everything you could ask for from autumn.
The couple photographs
Even though the hotel gardens were so pretty we had to take a walk along the Richmond towpath for their couple pictures. Especially as the sun was setting and that warm, pink glow was bouncing off the river. Of course as you can imagine, it was really busy and rightly so. Helen and Will were not bothered by the many well wishers and blatant starrers. It just meant they took their time and enjoyed that intimate moment together away from their wedding guests. Who at this stage were enjoying coffee and truffles.
Time to get the cowboy boots moving
Being from Texas there was no way the wedding couldn’t involve cowboy boots or cactus! And, what better way to show off your cowboy boots and get the wedding party started than with some line dancing. A big thumbs up from me if your wedding involves some kind of dancing – line, barn, ceilidh, lindy hop. OMG it’s just so much fun to photograph and you’ll not only get some great photos but it will get everyone on the dance floor for one hell of a party.

let's get this conversation started
“I can't tell you how much we love the photos. They really are just ‘fantastic’. Looking through them genuinely did take us back through all the excitement and emotions of the day, which was always what we hoped for from wedding pictures! I don't know how you manage to capture so much feeling and sentiment but you did and we have had so much enjoyment looking through them and reliving it all. Thank you for doing such a wonderful job, we couldn't be happier with them! We were overwhelmed with the slideshow too, what a generous and wonderful thing of you to do! It brings shivers down my spine watching it and - we absolutely loved it with the music!! We will really treasure that forever ‘thank you’!”
