The Town Hall Hotel Wedding Photography | Bethnal Green | Rochelle & Tony
A very cool and chic wedding
Oh, just simply WOW! Rochelle and Tony’s black-tie wedding at the very cool and chic Town Hall Hotel in Bethnal Green. A photographers dream and one that I absolutely loved photographing. Everything about this wedding oozed sophistication and style. From the moment I met Rochelle and Tony I just knew their day was going to be about them and how they wanted to celebrate their wedding day with their family and friends. No traditions to see here, just unique touches and contemporary vibes. The Town Hall Hotel is a wonderful setting for a wedding ceremony and reception. Built in 1910, the Town Hall Hotel houses the Council Chambers; a magnificent light-filled space with Art Deco interiors and wood panelled walls.
A humanist wedding ceremony
It’s a perfect ceremony space, and where Rochelle and Tony had their humanist ceremony with the excellent Lauren Stone. Humanist weddings win every time for me. A celebrant will tailor the ceremony to be about you as a couple and your lives together so far. All with a massive emphasis on love. So much more personal than the legal requirements of a civil or church wedding.
Rochelle looked breath taking in her elegant yet super-sexy halter-neck gown from the Galvan London in Notting Hill. The light cast by the huge Edwardian windows during bridal prep gave me the opportunity to be creative, whilst also documenting the fun being had by Rochelle and her bride tribe. A very special moment for me to photograph happened when her mum arrived to see Rochelle put on her wedding dress. Not a dry eye to be seen.
It was also really fab that I had time to take some photos of Tony and his groomsmen at the local pub. Tony looked super dapper in his wonderful off-white Hugo Boss dinner jacket with black lapel trim; his groomsmen wore Yardsmen Tailors dinner jackets.
It’s good not to follow wedding traditions
Tony and Rochelle didn’t believe in the principle of being given away so walked down the aisle together to the beautiful sound of the London African Gospel Choir singing ‘Ave Maria’. As a surprise Tony had arranged for the choir to sing the Beyoncé version which is Rochelle’s favourite. As you can imagine Rochelle couldn’t hold back the tears, but Tony’s reassuring smile and Lauren’s wonderful words helped Rochelle to gather her emotions.
The Gospel Choir stayed during the drink’s reception; I loved photographing this part of the day, not only were they fabulous singers but their performances were so vibrant and fun. Another variation to tradition was they had their first dance and best man and best women speech during the drink’s reception. Such a beautiful moment dancing to Al Green’s ‘Let’s Stay Together’ surrounded by the elegant backdrop of the De Montfort Suite.
A couple shoot of dreams
The hotel had so many quirky and romantic places for us to use for their couple photos. The art deco corridors and lobby were my favourites and the very quirky Corner Room with its many lights and botanical foliage.
Wedding supplier love
Their dinner was provided by the Town Hall Hotel team, whilst the elegant semi-naked cake was by Megan at Blossom & Crumb. During the wedding breakfast Tony & Rochelle delivered a joint speech, along with shots for everyone to enjoy. The table decorations and bouquet flowers were created by the very talented Hazel Gardiner.
Wedding party grooves
For the evening this glamorous couple changed into their evening outfits and beckoned everyone onto the dance floor to party the night away. Such a celebratory atmosphere that left me completely buzzing!
Kind words – “Such a lovely and friendly photographer. Clare made us feel very much at ease on our couple shoot a month before the wedding and again on the day of our wedding.”

It has been known for me to shed a tear during the wedding ceremony but not at multiple points throughout the day! Mascara and cameras already don’t mix but add to those leaking eyes and you’ve got a problem. This wedding was an emotional roll coaster and it started...
let's get this conversation started
“I can't tell you how much we love the photos. They really are just ‘fantastic’. Looking through them genuinely did take us back through all the excitement and emotions of the day, which was always what we hoped for from wedding pictures! I don't know how you manage to capture so much feeling and sentiment but you did and we have had so much enjoyment looking through them and reliving it all. Thank you for doing such a wonderful job, we couldn't be happier with them! We were overwhelmed with the slideshow too, what a generous and wonderful thing of you to do! It brings shivers down my spine watching it and - we absolutely loved it with the music!! We will really treasure that forever ‘thank you’!”
