WADHUSRT CASTLE | A BEAUTIFUL AUTUMNAL LOVE CELEBRATION
It has been known for me to shed a tear during the wedding ceremony but not at multiple points throughout the day! Mascara and cameras already don’t mix but add to those leaking eyes and you’ve got a problem. This wedding was an emotional roll coaster and it started the very first moment I met Amy & Christien.
Wadhurst Castle is just like a fairytale
The castle stands in an area of outstanding beauty just on the Sussex and Kent boarder, with the most incredible views. It’s a mix between an elegant country house but with an exterior of a fairytale castle. Amy and Christien chose to have their ceremony in the gorgeous walled garden.
The most loving couple
The moment I met Amy and Christien I could see how in love they were. I mean Christien just couldn’t take his eyes of Amy and I’m not surprised. A beautiful girl with an even more beautiful personality. They both felt they would be exceptionally nervous in front of the camera so we met for a pre wedding shoot at the castle a month before. I love having a connection shoot before the big day. Not only does it help my couples relax in front of the camera but also it gives me the opportunity to understand how they interact with each other. In Amy and Christien’s case it was undeniable love.
A photographic love affair
Amy and Christien had some great detailing ideas. My favourite was the homage to their friends and family by decorating the grounds with bunting made of photographs. Every place name had a Polaroid of its owner and they used their parents wedding photographs to decorate the top table.
A real life Love Actually moment
My favourite Christmas film of all time is Love Actually. I cannot wait until 1st December every year to watch it. So when Amy told me in secret that she wanted to recreate the Juliet and Peter wedding scene. Where his best friend Mark has organised for members of the congregation to sing and play “all you need is love”. I was beside myself! I then realised that I was integral to the success of this surprise and would be the decoy whilst everyone set up after the meal had finished. I’ll let the photographs speak for themselves but needless to say this was the third time in the day my eyes leaked.
If you’re thinking of recreating a scene from Love Actually then I’m your girl. Equally I fell in love with Wadhurst Castle and would love to shoot another wedding there. Please contact me

let's get this conversation started
“I can't tell you how much we love the photos. They really are just ‘fantastic’. Looking through them genuinely did take us back through all the excitement and emotions of the day, which was always what we hoped for from wedding pictures! I don't know how you manage to capture so much feeling and sentiment but you did and we have had so much enjoyment looking through them and reliving it all. Thank you for doing such a wonderful job, we couldn't be happier with them! We were overwhelmed with the slideshow too, what a generous and wonderful thing of you to do! It brings shivers down my spine watching it and - we absolutely loved it with the music!! We will really treasure that forever ‘thank you’!”
